Key Benefits

  • Available in multiple sizes
  • Suitable for coarse ore feed
  • Ideal for low tonnage operations

Grind coarse feed material with a reliable Rod Mill that won't over-grind

If you are in need of an application for coarse materials like limestone, potash, coal, phosphate and bauxite, you may be looking for a solutions like Rod Mills. Rod Mills are particularly useful, if you run a low tonnage operation and are looking for coarse product.

Our Rod Mills are available in multiple diameters to fit the needs of your operation. Grinding, primarily by attrition, Rod Mills require comparatively low levels of power to operate. Rod Mills can be either wet or dry designs. Once replaced by AG and SAG mills, Rod Mills have had a recent resurgence in the industry.

Rod Mills - your solution for grinding coarse materials

Available in multiple sizes
Designs extend to 15 feet x 22 feet (21 feet effective). Though mill length is limited by manufacturing constraints for the grinding rods, our Rod Mills are available in diameters from 5 feet up to 15 feet. Designs extend to 15 feet in diameter by 21 effective feet in length.
Suitable for coarse ore feed
Our Rod Mills are suited to grind coarse materials like limestone, potash, coal, phosphate and bauxite.
Ideal for low tonnage operations

Whereas a SAG and ball mill may be ideal for larger operations, the Rod Mill is ideal for low tonnage applications.

Durable, low-footprint Rod Mills

  • Feed is preceded by a secondary crushing stage
  • Grind by attrition predominantly
  • Most are low aspect L/D ratio ranging from 1.4:1 to 1.5:1
  • Installed power up to 1800 KW (2,500 HP)
  • Most discharge via trunnion-overflow
  • Volumetric loading is similar to that of a ball mill (30-35%)
  • Design standards for drive components are more demanding than ball mills
  • Dry applications feature a peripheral discharge or an air-swept arrangement
  • Typical operating speeds are slower than either SAG or ball mills: 65-70% TCS (wet) and 62-63% TCS (dry)
