The value of laboratory testing
Averne manages and supports both the Analytical Lab and the Hydro-Met Lab with the resources they need — including people, equipment and consumables.
The testing done in the Analytical Lab is standard in mining operations and includes:
- Gold analysis done by fire assay
- Silver analysis done by fire assay
- Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy
- Inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy for multi-element analysis
Additionally, the lab does ion chromatography units on liquids, leaching products, anion analysis and mercury analysis. In the Hydro-Met Lab, speciality and diagnostic leaching are performed, along with pressure and thermal oxidation.
“We have the capability to test both higher concentrations and trace element concentrations. We can also analyse carbon and sulfur to help us determine if our testing had good oxidations and whether our flotation products were optimised,” says Averne.
“In the laboratory, we aim to get fast turn-around times and support our client base with accurate data.”
