It starts with great leadership
We drive a leader-led model to further our goals and create a culture that enables our employees to thrive. This includes investing extensively in strengthening the capabilities of our leaders through all stages of their leadership journey. For example, we offer a series of corporate-wide leadership training offerings geared towards different leadership levels.
These training opportunities are underpinned by structured processes and tools to support leaders in driving organisational performance and talent management strategies.
- Our “leadership compass” framework improves a leader’s personal proficiency, helping to set team direction, accelerate continuous improvement, evolve people and enhance collaboration across the organisation.
- Our structured approach to performance and development reviews creates clarity of objectives, alignment with strategy and active development planning, which establishes a strong pipeline of internal successors for vacant positions.
Developing a competent workforce
In addition to developing our leaders, we emphasise the personal development of all employees.
Our training philosophy is based on a 70:20:10 approach, where 70% is on-the-job training, such as stretch assignments and project involvement, 20% is coaching and feedback, and 10% is formal training.
Unlocking success
Our structured approach to development works. An internal review indicates that the vast majority of employees engage in dialogue with their managers on an annual basis about their performance on assignments and competencies, as well as their development and career ambitions as part of the performance and development review process. We encourage ongoing dialogue and regular check-ins throughout the year. The positive impacts of these efforts are reflected by a healthy internal fill rate for new positions.
Skills of the future
We build a pipeline of skills through various apprentice, trainee and internship programmes in our local entities. Through project-based research and development partnerships with universities and institutes, we offer post-doctorate opportunities. This not only creates development opportunities for the future generation in the communities where we operate, but it also ensures that we have our finger on the pulse of the latest trends.
