Being leading actors within products, processes and projects comes from our people-first approach. Our process know-how is one of our most valuable resources, which is why we continue to invest extensively in people development and leadership training. The foundation of our success is based on the ability of our talented employees to work in an innovative and collaborative environment to meet the productivity agenda of our customers, thereby improving our competitive advantage.

We are committed to creating a safe, flexible and productive work environment that allows our employees to engage in a challenging career while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. We ensure that we operate with integrity and to high ethical standards, while encouraging our employees to share our commitment.

Operating effectively in a global business environment requires cooperation, quality and innovation. By focusing on the diversity of our workforce, we encourage employees to achieve their full potential and career ambitions through equal access to career, learning and development opportunities.

Strengthening our workforce

At FLSmidth, we strive to attract, engage, develop and retain the right talent. We do this through education of employees and leaders, as well as rewards.

Our reward concepts, policies, and governance strengthen our market position by driving individual commitment to sustainable company success. This is our way of driving engagement and on attracting and retaining the right talent. Our leadership development approach is multifaceted. One of these facets is the tri-level core leadership programme.

The three levels are described as:

  • Leadership Transition Training supporting our leaders' ability to work with leadership and transition in both a conceptual and a practical approach.
  • Our Accountability Accelerator Workshop is tailored to the unique circumstances of intact leadership teams and has strengthened our culture of accountability.
  • The Matrix Work helps unlock the potential of leaders and specialists who work in a matrix structure to maximise their contribution to performance
While we work to develop our leaders, we also place emphasis on the personal development of all our employees. An internal review indicates that 90% of employees engage in dialogue with their managers on an annual basis about their performance on assignments and competencies, and about their development and career ambitions. We encourage ongoing dialogue and check-ins throughout the year.
