Key Benefits

  • Free-flowing design insensitive to sticky materials
  • Robust chain design virtually eliminates breakage
  • Low conveyor speeds = low wear
  • Modular construction for easy delivery and installation

ABON® Chain Feeder for consistent, controlled feed

The ABON® Chain Feeder is an ideal primary feeder. It is designed to transfer material from the feed side towards the discharge “head chute” side of the feeder at a constant volumetric rate.

Comprising flight bars attached at regular intervals between two endless, linked feeder chains, the flight bars serve to transfer material at a consistent speed to the discharge end.

Unique feeder

These feeders have several unique features that set them apart from other feeder types and models:

  • The ABON® Chain Feeder’s modular design allows the unit to be broken down into components weighing no more than 10 metric tons (11 short tons) each. Thus, the unit may easily be transported or barged to your site and quickly assembled.
  • The modular construction accepts a wide range of lengths, allowing you to reduce your retaining wall height.
  • Because all of the modules are keyed and bolted, they hold their own loads when connected.

Easy to maintain

The top and bottom decks are 600mm (24-in) apart from each other, enabling visual inspections. We have provided access for inspections via inspection hatches along bottom deck. Daily maintenance requirements are limited to visual inspection only of sight glasses fitted to the oil baths.

Our Chain Feeders can be built with a horizontal, inclined or “Z” deck configuration, to suit any hopper or reclaim design or retrofit.

Reliable and steady, providing a controlled feed

Free-flowing design insensitive to sticky materials
The large throat opening for the feeder encourages free flow, eliminating blockages, even in clay and sticky materials.
Robust chain design virtually eliminates breakage
Our standard chain has a 152 mm (6-in) pitch. Chain breakage is practically designed out as the chain pull is 240 metric tons (265 short tons) per strand.
Low conveyor speeds = low wear
The ABON® Chain Feeder operates at low speeds (0.08 - 0.35 meters or 3-in to 14-in per second), which promotes long wear life for chain, sprockets and flight bars.
Modular construction for easy delivery and installation
Because the unit breaks down into components weighing no more than 10 metric tons (11 short tons) each, it is transported to your site for fast assembly.

Chain Feeder designed for versatility and built for long life

Robust design

The ABON®
Chain Feeder’s heavy, robust build has been designed for a service life that will exceed 20 years. The top deck withstands dumping of full loads from rear-dumping vehicles or side tippers without damage.

The electric motor drives the feeder head shaft via a torque-limiting coupling and bevel helical reducer. Sprockets on the head shaft mesh with two strands of the feeder chain, with each strand situated on opposite sides of the deck.

Flight bars are attached between the two feeder chains. These flight bars transfer the material at a constant volumetric rate to the discharge end.

Additional features

  • All oil lubrication
  • Electric variable speed drive is operationally clean and low maintenance
