The crusher plays an important role in ensuring your cement plant kiln and cooler system runs efficiently. Highly-abrasive cement clinker presents a number of challenges when being crushed including flying particles, formation of pile ups and irregular particle size. Our inventive heavy-duty roller breaker modular frame (HRB MF) is the roller crusher solution that can help you overcome these challenges.

A robust crushing arrangement

The roller crusher’s patented roll arrangement consists of transport rolls coupled with heavy-duty crushing rolls – one crushing roll uniquely positioned below the other on an otherwise horizontal plane within the modular frame. The gap created enables the roller crusher to crush oversized pieces of clinker. As cement clinker moves across these rolls, clinker fines are separated from larger pieces by passing through measured gaps to the material handling system.

In addition, the crushing rolls of the HRB MF have an interlocking design, which facilitates shaft reversal in the event of a jam.

 

Keeping your mid-cool

Our roller crusher can handle extremely high clinker temperatures of up to 550° C. This enables it to be installed as a mid-cooler breaker on traditional or cross-bar coolers – an alternative to installation at the point of cooler discharge. When installed mid-cooler, the breaker facilitates clinker cooling by breaking up larger clinker pieces with hot centres. Breaking these large pieces allows them to be cooled in the back section of the cooler.

 

Simple and clean operation

Compared with conventional clinker crushers, the HRB MF runs slower, generates less dust and noise, and experiences less wear. Using a grinding rather than striking movement, our roller

crusher solution significantly minimises the presence of flying particles that cause wear. As a result, the roller crusher itself and the cooler’s casing and refractory lining are subjected to minimal wear.

The roller crusher is fitted with electro-mechanical drives, and there is no requirement for either cooling air or water when installed in the standard application at the end of the cooler.

The roller crusher has the ability to handle large lumps, big loads and pileups, which are quite often the cause of stoppages. Additionally, the roller crusher has low dust generation and quiet operation.
Simple, low cost maintenance
All rolls share the same basic design of wear segments and are arranged in two different ways for the most efficient operation and the least number of spare parts. Our roller crusher also features a roll-out design that gives unrestricted access to wear components for easy removal and replacement.
Mid-cooler installation option available

Showcasing flexibility, the HRB MF’s design allows for mid-cooler installation as opposed to the standard application at the end of the cooler. This can:

Using a grinding instead striking movement to crush cement clinker reduces flying bits of particles that accelerate equipment wear. Patented shaft arrangement prevents stoppages

The roller crusher features a unique, patented roll shaft arrangement that enables the crusher to easily grip onto clinker lumps and effectively break them down without stoppage.

The HRB MF’s unique design consists of a combination of transport and crushing rolls in series. The transport rolls are optimised for throughput, while crushing rolls are optimised for efficient size reduction. While the transport rolls are on a common, horizontal plane, the first crushing roll is located below the centre line of the transport rolls and the final crushing roll.

The transport rolls rotate in the direction of the clinker flow and permit clinker fines to pass through predetermined gaps between the roll assemblies. The voids between the roll assembly teeth are filled with clinker and, as the shafts rotate, these particles are deposited into the material handling system.

Larger pieces are transported to the crushing rolls, where the remaining oversized material is broken down to the required size by two heavy-duty crushing rolls that rotate in opposite directions, pulling the material into the rolls.

Reversible crushing rolls also contribute to the roll breaker’s continuous operation. When the maximum system load is reached, the last of the two crushing rolls reverse automatically to optimally break down lumps to the required size.

 

Replaceable wear parts

The HRB MF has been crafted for easy replacement of wear parts including the transport and crushing rolls, along with the liners and heat shield. A roll-out design means the wear parts are easily accessible for removal and replacement.
