Hybrid Apron Belt (HAB) Feeder
HAB Feeder providing an affordable solution for ROM and stockyards
Th e HAB Feeder is a robust, power-efficient and high-tonnage hybrid belt-over-apron feeder that offers the advantages of both technologies – apron and belt. It provides an affordable solution for feeding abrasive materials, such as mineral sands, iron ore and bauxite, in mid-tier ROM applications and stockyard management operations.
Difficult materials? No problem
The HAB Feeder is specifically designed for your abrasive materials, feeding at an adjustable rate onto conveyor belts and sizers. The unique belt-over-apron design also excels in sticky materials, including sludge.
The low-profile horizontal loading deck easily accommodates different types of loading methods, including direct truck tipping, side tipping, front-end loading, dozing and ROM bypass tips, to prevent double handling. The wide, “kinked,” fast-moving deck transitions from horizontal to an inclined section for feeding onto other equipment.
The HAB Feeder’s modular design allows for transportation within a standard-size container, simplifying freight solutions to remote locations around the globe. Installation is quick and easy, requiring no complex civil construction.
The HAB Feeder can be installed anywhere close to a stockpile, with minimal site prep. Modularity accommodates different discharge heights and loading applications, as well as flexibility for alterations to meet different applications as your operation demands. All ancillary equipment is installed onboard – the HAB Feeder only needs a power source to operate, making it truly a “plug-and-play” piece of equipment.
Delivering dual benefits of apron and belt feeders
Heavy-duty, reliable performance
The HAB Feeder’s hybrid design combines both belt and apron feeder technology, utilising conventional conveyor belting bolted to the aprons, for a power-efficient and high-tonnage-capacity feeder. The reinforced loading deck and robust design of the chain and apron flights allow the HAB Feeder to withstand excessive loading forces over long periods of operation.
Easy to operate and maintain
With plug-and-play simplicity, the HAB feeder only requires a power source to run. The low-profile horizontal loading deck allows different loading methods, including direct truck tipping, side tipping, front-end loading, dozing and ROM bypass tips. Access hatches provide ease of maintenance for the deck, chains, belts and apron flight bars. Bearings are lubricated from an accessible auto lube system. Onboard power sockets further assist maintenance personnel.
Small installation footprint
Fully modular, the HAB feeder can be installed anywhere close to a stockpile, with minimal site prep. Typically, the feeder can be bolted to a flat concrete slab foundation or a compacted area of a stockyard.
Modular design for onsite flexibility
Semi-mobility supports onsite relocation or repositioning for improved efficiency. Moving the feeder is as easy as dragging it using standard stockyard equipment.
Modular and semi-mobile
The HAB Feeder joins our full line of productive and efficient feeders, feeder breakers and sizers – the result of 40-plus years of experience as a market-leading designer and manufacturer.
Offering customisable solutions in a modular design for easy installation, quick start-up and onsite flexibility, the HAB Feeder’s hybrid design combines both belt and apron feeder technology, utilising conventional conveyor belting bolted to the apron flights. The apron flights, in turn, bolt to an outer roller chain, providing high-strength load-carrying capabilities, with an impact bar to absorb forces experienced within the loading area. The bolted conveyor belt, together with the combination of a glancing wear plate and an adjustable sealing system, ensure effective isolation of the feed material.
Unique chain design
The chain design features double mounting flanges that allow for effective load distribution over each chain link. Dual carry rollers per chain link ensure effective support of the flight bar system and low rolling resistance. Together, the integrated roller chain assembly and belt sealing arrangement offer a solution for feeding a wide range of materials at a low power consumption.
Additional features and options
- Belt scrapers perform cleaning duties of the loading deck surface
- Onboard power sockets and welding plugs provide maintenance assistance
- Transformer and motor control centre (MCC) are located onboard the feeder
- High-pressure, pulsating automatic lubrication system is standard
- Wedge guard coupling and fluid drive coupling provide safeguards for conveyor
- Outer roller chain ensures low rolling resistance
- Optional wheels or skids assist in relocation
