We have a specialised department within our Material Handling Division in Germany that has been focused on combining our famous process know-how with innovative sustainability technologies. Thanks to their hard work, we’ve been able to develop complete solutions for alternative fuels in cement production and other heavy industrial processes. Our Feedex™ Overhead Reclaimer is just one stage of the process that covers everything from unloading the fuel off the truck, through to storage, blending and finally feeding and combustion systems.

 

Suitable for a range of fuels

Suspended from the ceiling by chains, our Feedex™ Overhead Reclaimer is used to store a wide range of alternative fuels, including refuse-derived fuels (RDFs), Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), wood chips, rice husk and many other materials. It is particularly suitable for storing non-free-flowing fuels and compressible materials, such as dry/wet RDF.

 

Blending and optimal firing

Both the storage and reclaim system are either in one enclosed box or in multiple boxes to allow for blending. The box is made of concrete and allows simultaneous feeding and extraction at a capacity of up to 600m3/hour. You can store different fuel types in separate boxes and blend the fuel to facilitate optimal firing. The system is optimised for blending fuels and ensures alternative fuel homogenisation – both in the box and between boxes. The technology has been proven to handle extreme climates, at temperatures down to -25 °C and up to +50 °C, maximising reliability.

 

Reliable and easy operation

The Feedex™ system eliminates bridging and clogging of alternative fuels, ensuring complete discharge. It has low energy consumption, and is easy to maintain and clean. To ensure reliable operation, the fuel transport takes place outside the main structural frame of the reclaimer and the extraction teeth are easy to refurbish.

 

Certification and safety assurance

The Feedex™ system is reliable, easy to maintain and stands out with its safety features. Unlike other systems, the marine-quality hoisting chains mean no loaded wires where your staff are walking, significantly improving safety. The reclaimer is also fully interlocked according to FLSmidth standards so that it cannot be started accidentally.

 

Our hoisting unit design, with chains and dual drives for main motors, features equal load distribution for added safety an improved performance.

Precision control of alternative fuels with different modes and speeds

System operation is automatic and is activated via a user-friendly control panel.

It features three different modes of operation:

  • Automatic intake mode: As it is fed into the storage bunker, the alternative fuel is leveled flat to use the full volume of the bunker.

 

  • Automatic extraction mode: The reclaimer feeds the alternative fuel to a discharge screw conveyor located at the discharge end underneath the bunker. The reclaiming speed adjusts automatically to the filling level of the discharge screw conveyor.

 

  • Automatic and simultaneous intake and extraction mode: As it is fed into the storage bunker, the alternative fuel is leveled flat to use the full volume of the bunker. At the same time the reclaimer feeds the alternative fuel to a discharge screw conveyor located at the discharge end underneath the bunker.

The reclaimer speed adjusts automatically to the filling level of the screw conveyor and the filling level of the bunker.

 

In all modes, a user-friendly local control panel means your operators can see the logistics information so they can easily determine things like the number of hours of fuel left in storage.
