Iron Ore
As you drive down the street or walk the halls of a downtown skyscraper, know that you are supporting the iron ore industry—or, rather, that the iron ore industry is supporting you. Iron ore is the main raw material that goes into steel, which is used to construct buildings, automobiles, appliances, roads and a variety of other life-supporting products (both figuratively and literally, since most surgical equipment is also made from steel).
Simply put, steel is one of the single most important commodities in the world economy.
Which brings us back to FLSmidth. More than 98 percent of mined iron ore is used to make steel, and FLSmidth offers global leading brand equipment that has been time tested and proven within the iron ore industry.
FLSmidth's Fuller-Traylor gyratory crushers and Raptor cone crushers crush hard iron ore, while FLSmidth ABON sizers handle softer, sticky ores. Our KOCH stacker/reclaimers and loading stations load, unload and stockpile the ore, while KOCH conveyors move large quantities of iron ore over large distances. Our large mobile RAHCO conveyors reduce costs in overburden handling, and FLSmidth/Fuller rotary kilns are the first choice in ferronickel reduction systems. FLSmidth's Dorr-Oliver and EIMCO Hi-Rate Thickeners, Flotation Cells, Disc Filters and Horizontal Belt Filters help process iron ore and recover water that can be reused elsewhere in the plant.
