Pneumapress® automatic pressure filter featured in platinum conference paper
FLSmidth's Pneumapress technology demonstrates effective platinum concentrate dewatering without squeezing membranes.
Based on the results of four successful Pneumapress pilot test campaigns, FLSmidth co-authored a paper with Anglo Platinum titled “Cost Effective Pressure Filtration for Platinum Concentrates”. Published by the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (SAIMM) during the Fourth Annual International Platinum Conference, the paper describes the filtration of four different platinum group metal concentrates using Pneumapress® technology. The four test slurries tested were produced from different comminution circuits, which led to differing particle size distributions; by testing each separately, the affect of the particle size distribution on the filtration rate can be examined.

SAIMM was held in Sun City, South Africa, in October 2010, and featured papers covering PGM ore comminution and processing, platinum smelting, marketing of platinum, and many other topics.
