FLSmidth is a preferred greentech supplier to the minerals industries
FLSmidth has been awarded a turnkey contract for emissions control equipment for Indian TATA Steel's expansion project at their Jamshedpur facility in the eastern state of Jharkand. The contract includes a complete modernisation of the existing air pollution control (APC) system and the supply of a new complete APC system for Jamshedpur's Sinter Plant No. 3. In addition, FLSmidth will supply all auxiliary nuisance dust collectors.
Tata Steel is among the top ten steel producers in the world with an existing annual crude steel production capacity of around 30 million tonnes per annum.
FLSmidth has long been the preferred supplier of environmental control equipment for the global cement industry. In accordance with FLSmidth's One Source strategy the Company has continuously worked towards also becoming the preferred greentech supplier to the minerals industries. The TATA Steel order along with many other significant minerals orders for APC equipment demonstrates the success:
Complete turnkey APC equipment contract with Brazilian Usiminas, the largest steel making complex in South America. The modernisation project of Usiminas’ Sinter Strand line 2 includes a retrofit of the original electrostatic precipitator (ESP) with FLSmidth's key internal parts. The scope of supply for Usiminas’ Sinter Strand line 3 includes adding two new electrical fields to the existing ESP. Both modernisation projects include upgrading the traditional DC power supply with Coromax™ pulse systems. The patented Coromax technology reduces power consumption by up to 80%.
The supply of two APC systems to Sterlite Industries (India) Limited, the London-based FTSE 100 metals and mining group. The supply will be part of the 400 tonnes per year copper smelter expansion project at Tuticorin in India. One system will be installed on a new ISA Smelter and the second is for the Pierce Smith Converter.
“FLSmidth has always focused on supplying environmentally friendly solutions. These recent contracts for environmental control systems solidify our position as a preferred greentech supplier to the minerals industries as well, while underlining our ability to provide one source of solutions across the cement and minerals industries,” Group CEO Jørgen Huno Rasmussen comments.
