Centaurus is compact enough to fit into almost any lab (it requires a floor space of just 1 m2). And thanks to its ergonomic design, all input and output hatches are easy to reach. Insulation on all inner surfaces ensures it’s quiet with a very low vibration level.

Mill & Press

Any all-in-one automated preparation solution can mill and press. But Centaurus is not just any automated preparation solution.

Centaurus is the only all-in-one automated solution available that allows you to choose the operation you’d like it to perform – so you get the flexibility to mill and press for complete X-ray sample preparation, or just mill or just press.

This means you can choose to grind materials for XRF fusion or other non-pressed material analysis, for example, or just press materials that are better suited to XRF and XRD analysis in a non-ground form.

So how does it work?
Simply choose the operation you need – and Centaurus will do the rest.
  • The sample material is dosed using a patented ‘two volumes’ dosing device with integrated blind sample functionality (6 mm maximum input particle size)
  • Grinding aid pellets are dispensed
  • The sample is ground to a fine powder and/or pressed into a steel ring (size either 51.5/8.5 mm or 40/14 mm, depending on the model)
  • The pressed powder pellet is vacuum-checked to ensure correct preparation
  • The pressed powder pellet is collected by the operator or robot, or taken to the analyser by conveyor
  • All internal components that have been in contact with the sample material are cleaned to ensure minimum cross-contamination
