Components & operating principles
The QCX/OnStream® equipment is typically supplied inclusive of all required components, which all have been selected and properly tested with emphasis on robustness and reliability in the harsh environment. The equipment components typically comprise:
A screw sampler or an air slide sampler extracts continuously 2-4 liter of raw meal per minute. Through an arrangement of pipes/hoses and a dosing device a 8-12 cc sample aliquot enters the OLX800 analysis cabinet. The sample portion is dosed into an cavity of a sample turret, which is then rotated to a handling position, where the sample is pressed into a pellet (300 kN). The turret rotates again and the sample pellet is now placed under to the analyzer head After analysis the turret moves to the sample ejection position, which is the last position in the typical 6-7 minutes cycle. The analyzed sample pellet and excess material from the primary sampling point is returned to the process by a rotary blower (with an integrated air sluice) positioned below the cabinet.
Instead of being ejected and returned to the process stream, the analysed sample pellet may optionally be routed to a composite sample container located directly under the eject position of the sample turret. The composite sample container is available in two versions: a) as a simple container or b) as a mixing tank equipped with a motor and rotating blades, which deagglomerates and homogenizes the loosely compacted sample pellets. Both versions are normally delivered for manual emptying. However, the type b) container can be delivered in a set-up supporting automatic emptying and discharge of a homogenous sample portion into an automatic sample transport system. Alternatively to the here described composite sampling option, a parallel standard type powder sampler may collect the composite sample.
The OLX800 cabinet ( IP54 protection class ) houses the analyzer head with electronics, conditioning utilities for pneumatic controlled devices and a PLC control system as well as a calibration sample entry point. The cabinet is recommended located in a shack or alike to protect against dust, rain and direct sun exposure. Pending local conditions the shack should be equipped with adeqaute airconditioning/cooling/heating equipment to provide stable operating temperatures for the analyzer.
