Process Description
STEP 1 - Filtration:
A chamber is formed by lowering the upper plate onto the filter belt.
Slurry is then pumped into the chamber.
Solids are collected as filtrate passes through the filter belt and out the lower plate.
Options:
Cake Wash Step may be added to efficiently wash the captured solids and remove soluble materials
from the final product. Solvents or reagents may be added to selectively extract materials or alter the captured solids.
STEP 2 - Squeeze:
Compressed air enters the top of the chamber and mechanically squeezes additional filtrate from the retained solids.
This dries the solids and forms the filter "cake."
Options:
Different gases may be used to dry the cake.
STEP 3 - Discharge:
The upper plate raises and the filter cake is discharged.
The filter belt is automatically washed during each cake discharge without additional cycle time.
Clean media is used for each filtration cycle.
