Bag Sealing System VENTOSEAL H-4000

Bag Sealing System VENTOSEAL

The increasing demand for production of completely sealed valve sacks has in the past been satisfied by welded or glued sacks. For several decades the paper packaging industry has used a technology that enables two sheets of paper to be united by a simple mechanical action known from the closure of external valve sacks, resulting in a very fast, simple and cost effective process, available both for new installations and for retro-fitting to existing packing plants of virtually any make and type.

The worldwide patented system PJ-Valve

The coffee filter is an example of the industrial application of knurling. The union of two sheets of paper is achieved by applying  mechanical pressure, so that the fibres of each sheet are deformed and forced to penetrate between the fibres of the other sheet  and interlock with one another. The result is a strong union between the two sheets of paper.

The valve passes through the two wheels for closure, the closing action itself takes about one tenth of a second per sack, which is approx. 1/10th of the time needed for sealing by other processes. This very short sealing time is the key to very high throughputs.

Application

In this system the sack is closed in the horizontal position after it has been discharged from the packing machine. It was designed for easy and fast installation on existing  packing plants with the following objectives:

  • a capacity of up to 4000 sacks/hours of 25 kg , sufficient to handle the vast majority of packing plants in the dry premixed products industry;
  • full flexibility for handling different sack sizes,
  • no modification required on  the existing packing equipment
  • compact design and stand-alone system; installation required approx. 4 m of space
  • extremely short installation time
  • low investment compared to the capacity assured
  • matching any existing packing line capacity (max capacity 4000 bags/hour)
  • international patent pending

Features

The system is essentially composed of:

  • a special roller way for bags alignment
  • a PVC belt conveyor for bag valve cleaning unit  and PJ Valve closing device
  • the knurling patented valve closing device  by PJ-VALVE SYSTEM
  • command and control panel board

The valve cleaning station is essentially needed in order to remove any stones from the closing area. Stones woud be simply crushed by the knurling wheels without any other consequence, but the cleaning system ensures  that the knurling wheels always operate on paper. A pneumatic spring suspension system further protects the knurling wheels against any overload.

The PJ Valve closing system is mounted on a vertically moving system. The sack is stopped and the closing system moves  down and seals the valve, the sack is then immediately restarted.

Application

The application of the PJ-Valve technology to rotary packers or to stationary  packers will allow the sacks to be sealed before they are discharged from the packer. The sack is closed in a vertical position on board the packer. The system has been designed  in a vertical position on board the packer. The system has been designed so that it can be applied up to the highest capacities  available on the market (4000 to 42000 sacks /hour).

Characteristics

Operating principle are:

  • the rotary packer is fitted with special sack chairs that allow the sack to be removed from the spout once it has been filled, while keeping the external valve in a precise position through grippers
  • the knurling wheels assembly is located in  a fixed position  outside the packer; just before the discharge belt; there is one set of knurling wheels for the whole  packing machine, irrespective of the number of filling spouts;
  • the knurling wheels assembly can be automatically lifted into a stand-by position if the systemis not in operation  (e.g. prodution of sacks without external valves) of if sacks are retained on board the packer (e.g. lack of product);
  • the valve is thus presented to the knurling  wheels using the rotation movement of the packing machine, and after closing  has occured the sack is released on the discharge belt.
