Key Benefits

  • Stable, smooth kiln operation
  • Improved run factor
  • High blending efficiency
  • Low power consumption and air requirements
  • No blockages
  • Continuous homogenisation at minimum power consumption
  • Suitable for integration with FLS-LOW (Loss-Of-Weight) kiln feed system

How it works

The CF silo is a continuously operating system for blending and storing cement raw meal. Material is extracted simultaneously at different flow rates from a number of outlets in the silo bottom.

Combined with suitable kiln feed equipment, the CF system ensures stable kiln feed composition at minimum power consumption and investment cost.

Ensuring homogeneity

Two criteria must be met to achieve a high degree of homogeneity in a continuously operating, through-flow silo where blending is not achieved simply by air agitation:
1. All the raw meal in the silo must be kept in constant movement towards the outlets
2. The raw meal zones must pass through the silo in flow zones with different residence times
The CF silo meets these criteria.

Unique Silo Bottom

The bottom of the CF silo is specially designed to maintain an optimal flow pattern during extraction of the raw meal.

Featuring seven identical, hexagonal extraction points, the silo has a large conical, steel cover at the centre of each hexagonal sector. These steel cones maintain an optimal flow pattern, increasing blending efficiency.

The cones also:

  • Relieve the pressure above the outlets
  • Ensure extraction from the aerated part of the silo bottom

The CF silo’s unique bottom is designed to maintain an optimal flow pattern during extraction of the raw meal.

Other design highlights

  • Silo top with manholes, overpressure and underpressure valves and level indicators
  • Raised, above-ground silo bottom with kiln feed or blending tank underneath
  • 42 separate subsectors in the silo bottom, all with aeration units
  • Shut-off valve with slide gate on each outlet for easy maintenance

Control system

The CF silo’s extraction system is governed by a programmable control unit. This allows you to select the optimum flow rate distribution based on local requirements and conditions. Silo control is maintained either via a locally installed programmable control unit or by a central programmable control unit.

As an additional advantage, the control unit can be configured to include the FLS-LOW (Loss-Of-Weight) system for control of the kiln feed flow rate.

FLS-LOW for control

As an additional advantage, the control unit can be configured to include the FLS-LOW (Loss-Of-Weight) system for control of the kiln feed flow rate.

Aeration filters

Optional aeration filters are available to prevent material from blocking the system. These filters prevent material from entering and possibly blocking up the entire aeration system if a pipe breaks inside the silo.

Optional filter battery for a single sector.
