In developing the Hi-Rate Thickeners, FLSmidth has drawn on decades of experience in flocculation and sedimentation technology from EIMCO and Dorr-Oliver. Extensive field tests are conducted to determine methods of introducing feed and flocculants to achieve design rated performance and thickening while keeping polymer consumption to minimum.

Feed systems are used on High-Rate Thickeners to achieve 12 or more times the throughput of conventional machines of similar size while substantially reducing water consumption and saving on flocculant costs.

Special proprietary feedwells including EIMCO® E-Duc® Feed Dilution System (patented), DynaFloc® Feedwells, Dynacharge Feed Dilution Systems, and FLSmidth's new Variable Dilution Feed Systems have been developed for Hi-Rate Thickeners to meet customer’s specific application requirements. Hi-Rate Thickener features can be used in applications where space for a conventional thickening circuit is limited or as a retrofit to improve operation of existing installations.
