FLSmidth now member of European Cement Research Academy
FLSmidth has enlisted as associate member of European Cement Research Academy (ECRA).
ECRA which is based in Düsseldorf, Germany is widely recognized as an important research institution and training academy for European cement industry professionals. Until recently only cement producers could be members of ECRA but from 2010 ECRA also allows non-cement-producers as associate members.
Currently, FLSmidth's most important activity within ECRA is the participation as an industrial partner in the ECRA CCS Project – Carbon Capture and Storage. The ECRA CCS project focuses on the first step of capturing the carbon dioxide from the clinker production process. The subsequent step for safe geological storage of CO2 is not in the project scope. The purpose of the project is to investigate the technical and economical feasibility of the technology as a potential application in the cement industry. The ECRA CCS project started in 2007 as a long-term research project, comprising five phases. Phases I and II have been completed and the work on phase III has begun.
FLSmidth's membership of ECRA will not only extend our international cement research network but will also facilitate access for FLSmidth's employees to ECRA's well reputed training seminars.
