HRH Prince Joachim of Denmark sends FLSmidth Roadrunners off to Germany
Blue skies and bright sunshine provided a beautiful setting for a great eco car event.
Journalists, students and representatives of Denmark’s Technical University (DTU) & FLSmidth flocked to the DTU campus for the official unveiling of the eco cars, which was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Joachim of Denmark.
An active motorsport enthusiast himself, Prince Joachim personally inspected the two new FLSmidth Roadrunner cars before the cars were shipped off to Germany for the Shell Eco-marathon Europe event next week.
This year Aalborg University also participated in the event and presented their model of an eco car. Aalborg's enterance to the playing field means that the FLSmidth Roadrunners will, for the first time ever, also have national competition in the Shell Eco-marathon.
The FLSmidth Roadrunner's two cars went for a test run on the DTU campus and the crowd cheered them on. The test drive proceeded without any unfortunate supprices and the two cars and the FLSmidth Roadrunner team seemed ready to take up the figth in Germany next week. The eco car from Aalborg University, however, did not manage to go for a test run as the fuel cells for the car were not ready, but will according to the team be ready for the race.
Let’s hope that next week’s race on the EuroSpeedway Lausitz racing ciquit in Germany will provide the same good fortunes as the FLSmidth Roadrunners have enjoyed so far.
We wish them the best of luck and cross our fingers for a good result
