Dating back to the founding of Fuller Company in 1926, the Fuller-KinyonTM (FK) Pump has been a core product offering for FLSmidth. 16,000 FK Pumps have been sold and manufactured in Pennsylvania, USA at the Manheim manufacturing facility.
The success is due in large part to the support of the greater FLSmidth organization. Less than half of the FK Pumps sold this past year were for the United States market. Many of the subsidiary offices as well as the corporate centers in Denmark and India support and promote FK Pump sales. They are also used in the large projects sold by both FLSmidth Minerals and Cement Division. It should also be noted that FLSmidth India also sells FK Pumps for the Indian market.
Another factor in the success is that FLSmidth continues to invest in improving the FK Pump. Within the last 10 years improvements such as Tungsten Carbide coating for the screws, three-piece split screw design, and Pneu-flapTM flapper valve controllers have been introduced. These improvements have made the FK Pumps easier to maintain and have improved the longevity of the wear parts.
The FK Pump is a pneumatic conveying line charger used to transfer dry powdery materials such as cement, coal, fly ash, lime, limestone, and raw meal. The pump has traditionally been used in the cement industry but also has numerous applications in other markets such as coal fired power plants, minerals processing facilities, and other industries where dry bulk materials are handled.
