FLSmidth wins contract for cement plant in Ireland

11.01.2007
Message to the Copenhagen Stock Exchange, No. 02 - 2007, 11 January 2007

FLSmidth has signed a contract worth about 52 million euro with Irish Cement Limited to supply a new 4,000 tonnes per day cement clinker production line. The production line is to be built at the Platin Cement Works near Drogheda in the eastern part of Ireland approximately 50 km north of Dublin.
FLSmidth will supply all machines and auxiliary equipment, and several FLSmidth companies and divisions are participating as subcontractors to the project. The order includes an ATOX raw mill, a raw material store from MVT, an ATOX coal mill, a complete ILC two-support kiln with preheater, an MMC cooler and an OK cement mill. In addition, the FLSmidth companies Pfister and MAAG Gear will supply a coal feeder and gear units.

The engineering services, and the machinery supplies for the cement plant, will be based on the latest environmental technology to ensure an energy efficient plant which will meet stringent emission requirements. The plant will also facilitate production of environmentally friendly cements with lower carbon intensity.

The production line, which is expected to be operational by late 2008, will be the third line to be supplied by FLSmidth for this Works. Originally built by FLSmidth in 1968, the cement plant was expanded by adding another FLSmidth production line in 1972.

The joint history of FLSmidth and Irish Cement Limited, which is owned by the leading International Materials Group Cement Roadstone Holding (CRH), dates back more than 70 years.

The conclusion of this major cement plant contract was symbolically executed on January 2, 2007, the 125th anniversary of FLSmidth.

The order will contribute positively to FLSmidth's earnings until the plant is commissioned in late 2008.
