FLSmidt MAAG Gear - Poland

MAAG Gear in Elblag stands for over 60 years of transmission gear design and production in Poland.

The first toothed wheels were produced in Elblag in 1949.

Historical Data

1949           Foundation of Mechanical Workshops Zamech
1990 ZAMECH is taken over by the Swiss company ABB and is renamed to ABB Zamech Ltd
1993 ABB Zamech Ltd receives one of the first ISO 9001 certificates in Poland - approved by the British Standard Institution
1999 The gear department is splited from ABB Zamech Ltd and named ABB Zamech Zaklad Przekladni Sp. z o.o.
2000 ABB Zamech Zaklad Przekladni Sp. z o.o. is taken over by MAAG Gear AG and starts activity as MAAG Gear Zamech Sp. z o.o.

 

Pioneer achievements

1956  the first high speed gear for a ship turbine
1959 the first cement gear
1964  the first gear for mining 
1965 - 1987 development of gears for sugar, chemical and pulp and paper industry  
1967  the first gear for coal mill (power plant) 
1968  till now marine gears' development          
1991 the first planetary gear for coal mill
1992 the first planetary gear for mining
2001 first large epicyclic gear for cement mills
