As a research and development engineer, I focus on evaluating new ideas and turning our most promising concepts into commercial products or processes. Our customers look to us for the latest in green technologies – and our mercury roasters and waste heat recovery systems are two crucial products in this ever-expanding field.
Our innovative mercury roaster takes advantage of the excess heat in a cement plant to remove mercury from the materials used in the system, allowing plants to control their mercury emissions in a way that’s cheaper and produces less waste than traditional methods. We’re also involved in a number of waste heat recovery (WHR) projects. WHR systems use heat from the plant itself to generate electricity and reduce the plant’s carbon footprint. They can supply up to 30% of a plant’s power needs, and we’re working on designs that will significantly increase the amount of electricity generated.
