Communications Policy
FLSmidth understands the importance of transparency and dialogue with our customers, employees, stakeholders and the media. As such, our Communications Policy intends to ensure regular, clear and consistent communication through a variety of channels.
Based on active communication with the company’s stakeholders, the public relations activities of the FLSmidth Group aim to strengthen the Group’s position as a major international enterprise and to support the implementation of its business goals.
One Group FLSmidth should appear as One Group in its internal and external communication activities.
Openness and transparency
Communication should reflect an open attitude towards positive and negative aspects of the company which are considered important to employees, investors and the general public. The Group wishes to be among the best in communicating and promoting understanding of its strategy, activities and values.
Division of responsibility
Being a listed company places FLSmidth & Co. A/S under certain information obligations, and Group Management is solely responsible for complying with legislative requirements and the Stock Exchange’s code of Ethics. In doing so Group Management is assisted by Corporate Communications (CC) and Corporate Investor Relations (IR).
FLSmidth is continuously negotiating many potential contracts on the global market. To be considered binding, such contracts require not only signing but also exchange of downpayment and guarantees. Binding contracts whose value exceeds DKK 200m are announced to the stock market.
Group Management sets the overall guidelines for Group communication and image-building activities and speaks for the Group externally. Only Group Management makes statements on overall company matters and issues (management, finance, policies and strategic considerations, public affairs). In cases where Group Management is not available, CC/IR will act as spokesperson.
Only Group Management publishes key figures for financial performance in Group companies and divisions.
Working in close consultation with the communications and marketing departments of the individual Group companies, CC/IR shall ensure that the FLSmidth Group adopts an open approach by communicating all overall events and initiatives that take place within the Group. All overall information is communicated by CC/IR subject to approval and in agreement with the Group Management. To ensure coherent, consistent and focused communication from the Group all announcements, brochures, articles and other written internal and external information of a general nature (exclusive of product information) are to be approved by CC/IR before being released.
Internal communication within and across the Group companies should ensure a high level of information and knowledge among the employees and contribute to their involvement and motivation. Being well-informed about the objectives, strategies and decisions of the Group in general and their own company in particular enables employees to share responsibility.
