The home of the Buffalo

FLSmidth Buffalo started off as McCarthy Mine Machinery in 1975 as a service to the coal mining industry of South Africa with its head office and factory in Witbank in the heart of the South African coal fields. The company became part of the then FFE Minerals Group in 1999.

FLSmidth Buffalo has shown steady growth over its some 30 years of existance. The management style is entrepreneural and decision making is on a democratic basis with active participation right down to sweeper level. The team spirit and family feeling extends to its customers who are the best salesmen that FLSmidth Buffalo has never employed.

The Buffalo feeder-breaker has become legendary in South African coal mines for its robustness and reliability and is one of FLSmidth Buffalo's major product lines. The other major product line is the range of Buffalo sizing equipment. The Buffalo sizers have been succesfully introduced into underground and opencast mines over the past four years.

The Buffalo underground equipment is fully flameproof and designed and manufactured in accordance with ISO 9001.
