Metering bypass dust with rotor weighfeeders
Summary: The plant which came on stream at Gmundner Zement in July 1998 to relieve the circulating chlorides within the kiln system has prevented operational malfunctions caused by coating in the preheater. It is now also possible to use secondary fuels and secondary raw materials with higher chloride contents, such as fluidized bed ash and plastics. Rotor weighfeeder systems have proved successful for silo extraction and gravimetric metering with integral pneumatic conveying.

Metering fibrous and flaky secondary fuels
Summary: When secondary fuels are burnt in rotary kiln plants in the cement industry it is not just a question of metering with short-term accuracy, but also of fault-free handling of materials which can have extreme physical properties, fibrous and flaky particle structures, and low to very low bulk densities. The TWR-S series was developed for gravimetric metering of these types of difficult secondary fuels using the experience gained throughout the world with the well-known rotor weighfeeder system used for metering pulverized coal. It has already proved its value in practical application and represents a successful extension to the existing range of rotor weighfeeders. A report is given below of the design of this new rotor weigher and how it is incorporated in a complete metering system.

Summary: Continuous metered feeding of bulk materials is becoming increasingly important in view of the trend towards the use of secondary raw materials and fuels in cement production. Neither process engineering control of individual process stages nor comprehensive quality assurance would be conceivable nowadays without reliable metering technology. The efforts to achieve high quality standards, environmental compatibility and cost-effective production when metering bulk materials has led to a logical combination of the operations of bulk material extraction, weighing, metered feeding, discharge into the system, and data acquisition. The demands are focused not only on improved short- and long-term accuracy, large operating ranges and user-friendliness, but also on optimum integration of the bulk material metered feeding system into the automation scheme. Prospective weighing and controlling, and dynamic gravimetric metering in closed metered feeding units – these are the current requirements which are fulfilled by using rotor weighfeeder systems. The introduction of the DRW, URW, SRW and TRW series of rotor weighfeeders has created a complete metered feeding system which, because of its advantages in the metered feeding of practically all free -flowing, powdery to granular, bulk materials, is used in all the process stages in cement production. Detailed information is given below about the great many advantages of the operating principle, structural design, and practical application of this new metered feeding system in all cement production process stages.

Rotor weighfeeders for metering feed materials to
Summary: The first cement grinding plant equipped throughout with rotor weighfeeders has come into operation successfully at a German cement production plant. The good results achieved when metering hot cement clinker and compacted clinker cake, fly ash, granulated blastfurnace slag and other additives illustrate the technical progress that has been made in metering technology when feeding materials to cement mills using rotor weighfeeders as compared with the belt and apron weighfeeders used previously. The high short-term accuracy achieved by prospective weighing and control, the lag-free reaction to predetermined process control variables, the high functional reliability due to the minimum number of functioning parts , long service life, and simple maintenance, as well as the environmental friendliness and safety due to complete enclosure, are the main features of the rotor weighfeeder. Universal application of the rotor weighfeeder system means that there are no problems in feeding coarsegrained materials as well as all powdery additives to a cement mill.
