The new generation ECS® process control solutions are based on the latest Microsoft .NET technology and the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. "This new technology enables more flexible and rapid product development to the benefit of our customers", Global Product Manager Joju Jacob comments. "The short distance between the industry and our development teams has always been essential to remain close to the customer and thereby stay competitive." Being a Microsoft Gold Certified partner and having the highest level of competence and expertise enables FLSmidth to always offer software solutions that are based on the latest Microsoft technology and platform.

The ECS/CemScanner system provides on-line measurement of kiln shell temperature distribution. Its purpose is to help kiln operators protect the kiln shell and kiln lining. The solution has three main components: the infrared scanner head, data processing units fitted within industrial stainless steel enclosures, and the software application for the system user. The high-speed infrared scanner used in the ECS/CemScanner is acknowledged for its long-term stability and high accuracy. A new advanced processing unit, the CemMicro III, with Ethernet interface receives the measurements from the scanner head, the Kiln Position Encoder (KPE) and the kiln and tyres rotation pulses. They are then transmitted to the computer system through Fibre Optic Interface or industrial wireless Ethernet solutions. The CemMicro III standard Ethernet interface eliminates the need for any special network communication cards to be installed in the PC. The multi functional CemMicro III benefits customers in requiring fewer spare parts and reducing inventory costs. The software interface on a standard PC comes with a number of predefined user friendly views like Temperature Image Profile, cross section with temperature and coating thickness, Kiln 2D/3D views. The system also offers standard features such as “Walk in the Kiln”, “playback”, tyre migration, consolidated summary information, data export / statistics, trending and alarming for unlimited tags.
