The extension of the raw material storage was an important part of the Rohoznik project. The old storage was maintained, but the capacity was extended by building a new storage in extension of the old one connected by belt conveyors.
This part of the project was entrusted to FLSmidth Materials Handling. The main task was to supply a tripper and bridge reclaimer and to revamp the bridge reclaimer in the old storage building.
MVT Materials Handling supplied the new reclaimer which was to be of the same make as the old LHO type – a longitudinal bridge scraper store. MVT is part of the FLSmidth Group.
In many plant projects, materials handling machinery is the first to be erected
- Storage machinery and crushers are large and heavy units.
- The materials handling equipment is typically ready for operation before the rest of the machinery.
- The interim period is used to make various tests, thus saving time during the final commissioning.
The primary objective was to construct and erect as much of the storage equipment as possible before the production was closed down. The new storage building was the first to be constructed and erected.
Subsequently, efforts could be focused on revamping the existing machine and beginning to stack the raw materials.
