International Cement Production Seminar (ICPS)
22 May 2008
The 2008 International Cement Production Seminar (ICPS), From 20 April to 10 May was again a huge success. We at FLSmidth Institute think it can be explained with a single word: Inspiration.
We know that the participants attending the 41st International Cement Production Seminar left inspired with new ideas about the way they do business. We are sure that one of the benefits of attending this seminar will be that they return with fresh perspectives on how to optimise existing processes and hopefully help prevent or reduce unplanned production stoppages.
Another benefit is the global managerial network that we encourage during the seminar. It is our experience that both the participants and FLSmidth benefit from the network and hopefully this will also be the case with the ICPS 2008 group.
This year's ICPS group was as always very special. Everybody participated actively and was interested in both the technical activities and the social arrangements. Many of the lecturers mentioned very positively the high level of activity of all the participants whenever engaging in group work during the three modules of the seminar.
The participants showed great interest in all the lectures and both during the breaks and after the lectures discussions between the participants and the lecturers continued. The participants asked a lot of questions and were very eager to learn from the FLSmidth specialists. Thanks to all of you for taking the time to answer their questions also after your lecture.
The plant tour to Egypt where we visited Sinai Grey and Sinai White was also a huge success. This is the first time ICPS has been allowed access to a white cement plant. This was of great interest to all the participants and Sinai White gave us a very thorough and professional introduction as well as a very good tour of the plant. We also had a short visit to Ramliya. The participants commented this visit as very interesting as it is very seldom that the participants have the opportunity to see a totally new plant just a few days before starting up. Thanks to the management at Ramliya for allowing us to visit while preparing just one week before igniting the kiln.
At the seminar the customers had a chance to meet 30 FLSmidth specialists and two 2 external specialists. Thomas Heilmann gave a lecture about control loops. Besides 36 FLS representatives/specialists came to the exhibition fair.
We at FLSmidth Institute are committed to strengthening and helping our customer relationships in the future..
