Acid gases SO2, HCI, HF in the flue gas had to be reduced by more than 95% at all times, and the dust emission had to be lower than 20 mg/Nm3. The installation includes a semi-dry flue gas cleaning system. The GSA system, is divided into two reactors and two Electrostatic Precipitators (ESP) for dust removal. The flue gas, leaving the preheating section at 350 oC, is led to a heat exchanger for energy recupe-ration and is then cleaned in an environmental installation.

 

POSCO, South Korea, Sinter plant
The dust from the sinter bed was very fine and with a high resistivity, this leads to heavy back-corona of the ESP, resulting in a low efficiency during operation with traditional DC supply. The efficiency can be improved simply by replacing the existing DC T/R-sets with the COROMAX pulse systems, eliminating the need for extra collecting area or gas conditioning with chemicals. Dust emission was reduced by 50%.
